Our integrally heated sprue bushing features a distinct construction with a single heater that ensures a more uniform heat profile, with a thermocouple sensing directly at the point of melt flow control within the bushing body.

To date, our hot sprue bushings technology has facilitated the production of hundreds of millions of parts for the medical, consumer, automotive, and recreation industries. The integrally heated sprue bushing plays a crucial role in ensuring superior heat transfer and maintaining the efficiency of the molding process. The bushing is specifically designed to handle high temperatures and demanding environments.
The profile-wound single heater, encased in a removable, tapered stainless steel sleeve, forms an integral part of the hot sprue. This fits over the hot sprue nozzle body and is also tapered. Tightening the interface cap forces the assembly together, creating a very tight fit between the hot sprue heater and nozzle body. This precise fit contributes to longer heater life and rapid nozzle response time. The design also minimizes heat loss during the process, which is critical in maintaining efficiency.
Polyshot’s Hot Sprue Bushings excel in processing Liquid Crystal Polymers (LCPs), such as Vectra, in addition to other high-temperature materials like PEEK and Ultem. Their melt flow control is paramount for these demanding molding cycles where superior heat transfer is necessary. This technology is considered the standard for those requiring streamlined flow channels and optimal performance in restricted areas. Description
The Polyshot bushing length will be shorter at room temperature than when at operating temperature due to thermal expansion. The heated sprue bushing length will be +.000 to -.010 from the stated dimensions. More exact length requirements can easily be achieved by machining material off the contact surface of the collar face.
For a non-standard “A” length to be finished by Polyshot, specify the special “A” length. For a non-standard “A” length to be modified in the field by the customer, order the Polyshot Heated Sprue Bushing with the “blank collar #109” in place of the standard collar.
The heaters in the Polyshot bushing will operate at 208–240 single-phase volts AC only. The heated sprue bushing controls temperature by sensing directly at the point of melt flow control, ensuring a more uniform heat profile. This allows the settings on the controller (Firebox) to be approximately 120 °F cooler than the nozzle on the molding machine.
The thermocouple plays a critical role in this setup, ensuring precise control over the temperature to improve heat transfer and maintain a consistent streamlined flow channel.
Additionally, the thermocouple ensures accurate temperature readings, which are essential for maintaining the integrity and performance of the sprue bushing. These features are integral in ensuring that our sprue bushings meet industry standard specifications.

Conan Microbushing
Description
The Conan Version of the Polyshot Microbushing will allow the molding of very small electrical connectors and the like, with materials including glass filled LCPs and nylons. It is most often used to gate into a cold runner system, which feeds parts through a sub-gate system.
It can be installed directly into the mold with the mold maker machining the gate well detail into the cavity. It can also be furnished with a Conan R gate interface cap to allow installation into a .625″ diameter hole machined into the “A” half of the mold. The Conan R configuration will leave a slight “ring” witness line if gated directly into a molded part surface.

G-150C Bushing
Description
Polyshot G-150C Bushings are installed into a 1.5000″ diameter hole machined into the “A” half of the mold. This bushing is also a direct replacement for existing molds that have been constructed with a cold sprue bushing.
This bushing also allows a runner to be machined into the face of the bushing by Polyshot in any configuration, with a maximum radius size of .2500″.
The G-150C bushing is an excellent choice for large parts. The G-150C can process engineering resins with a part or shot weight up to 2 lbs.
